Ready?Ok!

This is a commissioned artwork for The Naughton Gallery, a non-profit gallery housed within
Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland.

I was invited by Ben Crother, Curator & Collections Manager, to take part in their annual Exhibition
held each summer, and create an artwork piece for the show titled Ready?OK!

The artwork was featured in the gallery space, on their exhibition brochure featuring
my artist biography, and on their social media channel.

My piece title is inspired by the start of most cheerleader chants, as part of the exhibition theme,
exploring the relationship between art and sport. The exhibition features sport photography, but
alsolooks at more unusual/conceptual art/sports collaborations, exploring topics
including race, gender, and sexuality.

The artwork features a big brush type with color contrast and dynamic composition to evoke the energy of the cheerleader chants.
The clean visual treatment allows the elements to stand out and have a bold look & feel.

GALLERY PROFILE
Situated at the heart of Queen’s University on the first floor of the Lanyon Building, the Naughton Gallery
is one of Belfast’s most exciting visual arts spaces, promoting diversity, inclusivity, and artistic excellence.
The Gallery presents a rolling programme of original contemporary exhibitions, and has exhibited work by both
local and internationally-renowned artists including Adham Faramawy, Marie Jacotey, Aidan Koch Sarah Maple,
Locky Morris, and Tom of Finland.
The Naughton Gallery also runs an extensive programme of talks, screenings, and special events.
